Can Google Read the Bible to You?

YouVersion Bible for Google Assistant is a free service that allows you to listen to any book, chapter or verse of the Bible, your daily reading plan and the verse of the day on any speaker or smart device that works with Google Assistant. With this applet, you can enjoy your favorite Bible translation, as it offers five different versions of the Bible that include audio recorded by professional storytellers. Leaving aside the feelings about Jehovah's Witnesses, they offer an excellent Google Home applet that is able to read the Bible aloud. There are many specialized Bible reading applets available on Google Home, but I list the four best ones below.

With this applet, you can only play one chapter of the Bible, you can't play the whole book, and you can't reduce it to a specific verse. To invoke the Google Assistant to read from the YouVersion Bible app, you must say that Google tells YouVersion Bible. For example, if you say “Hey Google, read Proverbs, chapter 18, verse 13”, your Google Home won't be able to help you. Choose from more than 2400 versions of the Bible in more than 1600 languages on your computer, phone or tablet, many of which are available as audio Bibles.

With Pocket Bible applet, you can't have it read an entire book of the Bible either; you have to select at least one book AND one chapter. This is great because there are a lot of different versions and you could download several versions to read them offline. You can also relax with YouVersion Rest: a soft voice accompanied by peaceful background sounds will read the Psalms to you. Without an applet, Google Home would simply search the Internet for the Bible verse you requested and regurgitate everything it could find.
